This Bible study argues that biblical gratitude is the practiced acknowledgment of God’s gracious initiative, expressed through remembrance, confession, worship, obedience, generosity, and hope. The Old Testament situates thanksgiving within Israel’s experience of deliverance and its vocation to remember the Lord amid abundance and adversity. The New Testament carries these themes forward through Jesus Christ, locating thanksgiving within the worship and ethical life of the community formed by his death and resurrection.
